Current LA Thermal Plate - Liquid Cooling Plate for LG E78 Battery Modules

Purpose-built aluminum liquid cooling plate designed for direct thermal management of LG E78 2P12S battery modules. Manufactured with friction stir welded (FSW) internal channels for reliable, leak-free coolant flow and efficient heat transfer under high-rate charging and sustained discharge.

Tested at 38°C (100°F) ambient with a 400W continuous heat load per module (174A max charge rate), the plate keeps single-module temperatures well under 45°C across a wide flow range. Supports 1- or 2-module configurations per plate.

Dimensions and construction:

• Overall size: 589.5 × 225 × 16 mm (23.21 × 8.86 × 0.63 in)
• Plate thickness: 16 mm (0.63 in)
• Material: 6061-T6 aluminum, machined to ±0.05 mm
• Friction stir welded internal coolant channels
• Mounting: M8 × 1.25 threaded holes

Coolant ports:

• 2× female AN-6 / JIC 37° flare ports (SAE J514)
• Thread: 9/16-18 UNF-1B, 10 mm thread depth
• Ports exit the short end face, on the length axis of the plate

Sizing your battery box: Because the coolant ports sit on the end face and point along the length of the plate, whatever fitting you choose adds to the lengthwise space the plate needs. Start from the 589.5 mm plate length and add your fitting's port-face-to-hose-centerline dimension to get the minimum inside length. A 90° swivel fitting turns the hose across the pack and adds the least length; a straight fitting adds the most.

Thermal performance:

• ~30 kPa pressure drop at 100 L/hr, ~49 kPa at 150 L/hr
• Single module steady-state temp: ~43-44°C at 38°C ambient
• Compatible with standard 50/50 ethylene glycol/water coolant
• Stackable in series or parallel loop configurations
